Perched on a curb at the base of Napoleon's monument in Paris' Place Vendôme, I can't help but reflect on the independent spirit of the past Fall 2016 fashion weeks that are culminating in the City of Light. The celebration of individuality that sent spring over the top on every runway continues as the guiding force for the upcoming fall. "More is more!" and certainly what I adore with the embellished treasures adorning the runways over past few weeks.
I've never been one to follow the leader. I've always had a strong sense of myself, my beliefs, and above all, my personal style. Even as a child, I always found the conventional concerning and was never satisfied with the status quo. I've always wanted to be distinctive, recognizable, my own person.
In high school (that I remember as being nothing short of horrible), I was voted Best Actor, Best Dressed (I'm sure not a surprise), and Most Individualistic (code for class freak). My road to relevance was well under way! It would only stand to reason that my desire to be a pioneering spirit would prime me for my role as Fashion Director.
Leading is how I choose to live my life. Instilling confidence in others, style and otherwise, is my motto. Today, I'm still not satisfied with the status quo. I'm always looking for the reinvention of ideas to make them more relevant-whether addressing head-on the chaos of the fashion industry's calendar that exposes the finest designs six months too soon, or reinforcing with fashion's greats that it is you, the ultimate wearer, whose wardrobe will showcase their ideas and trends.
Following isn't fashionable, so throw caution to the wind. My fashion dictate is "Be individual, independent, and in charge of your style-a leader of your own look!" This spring, fashion is a feast for the eye. Satiate your appetite with absolute, overt opulence and fantasy that will still be relevant next fall!
Sending you great style and love from Paris,
