KATHARINE WEBSTER: I love the colorful, graphic, mix-and-match nature of the pieces -- plus cleanup is easy. This is furniture that's elegant, yet low maintenance. My favorite piece is the Vesta Tagine fire pit for bringing the comfort of a fire to the grandest or most intimate spaces.
What inspired your designs?
KW: A trip to the Mediterranean with my family. I was smitten with the relaxing way of life I experienced there: indoor/outdoor living, dining, and unwinding. This collection captures that feel and showcases all the beautiful colors of the Hellenic landscape, like the rich blues of the sea and sky, the golden sun, and the sun-bleached walls.
What "outdoor furniture problem" did you want to solve with your collection?
KW: I want things to be sophisticated, but I also understand the need for low maintenance and utility. This synthesis is relatively unique to our line. For example, I designed smaller pieces that could fit on a small urban terrace, and mix-and-match slipcovers that can be thrown into the wash.
What should every outdoor living area have?
KW: For evening, it's pivotal to get the lighting and heating right. Even if you have the loveliest, most comfortable lounger in the world, if you start to shiver as the sun sets or can no longer see the person across from you, it makes the space uncomfortable. A beautiful, mobile piece that can both heat and illuminate is invaluable for creating the right mood.
