Making glass is incredibly difficult; it?s the hardest thing I have ever done?or of all crafts, by far the most difficult. It?s hard to appreciate that?when you watch somebody who knows how to do it because like all skilled people, they make it look easy. I love the color of the glass as it comes out of the furnace, the beautiful orange, amberish color. I love the way that I?m able to slowly work the glass to create beautiful pieces of artwork. Each piece of glass is hand-finished, which means that we attach a pontil iron and we open the rim by hand and this gives a very, very durable rim. Well, I am a great believer in that if you do anything really well, you will succeed. And my wife Pia and I care passionately about the people and about the feeling in the company?that people feel they?re a part of something that is very special. I?ve always thought that it?s incredibly important that you choose what you like. Don?t worry about what other people think; choose what pleases your eye.
