La Prairie education manager Andrea Ford spent hours fielding questions and sharing expertise with the Beauty Live team at NeimanMarcus.com last week. There’s a wealth of information about the ultra-luxurious Swiss skincare line because so much research goes into it.

NM: What are your two favorite La Prairie products?

AF: Cellular Radiance Emulsion SPF 30 and Cellular Cleansing Water For Eyes and Face.

NM: Is there one product within the line you cannot live without?

AF: Cellular Cleansing. I could probably use another moisturizer and eye cream if I had to, but I am in love with this cleanser.

Fashion designer, mother and socialite Shoshanna Gruss launched her label 13 years ago when she couldn’t find enough options to flatter her curves. Since then she has built a solid business of dresses, sportswear, swimwear and children’s wear. NM: Do you have a fashion icon?

SG: Sophia Loren.  She always had a very elegant sense of style and wore such amazingly feminine dresses that highlighted her curvaceous body giving her a sense of sexiness while maintaining a level of tastefulness.

Armani Beauty national artist Rhona Samuels recently visited Dallas NorthPark by way of Phoenix, en route to Miami. So naturally, summer-proof (heat-proof, sweat-proof) makeup was on her mind. One of the most exciting new products Rhona talked about was Armani’s Eyes To Kill Intense eyeshadow. She informally explained them as “powder-to-cream” eyeshadows. You’ve probably heard of cream-to-powder, but powder-to-cream?

Neiman Marcus Ala Moana and The Contemporary Museum of Honolulu (TCM) have a longstanding relationship that began with the opening of the Ala Moana store in 1998, when TCM was a beneficiary of the opening gala. For eight years Contempo, TCM’s premier fundraiser, was held inside the store until it simply outgrew the venue. This year it  takes place at the newly opened Waikiki Edition, the elegant Ian Schrager-designed hotel. Leading up to the gala was ContempoRARITIES, a silent auction preview of 51 works by artists from Hawaii and around the world, displayed at Neiman Marcus. All proceeds support the museum’s exhibits and public programs focusing on the art of today.
