Ice to fill the glass.

Cheers and a votre santé!

Many of you speculated about our model and many of you nailed it. Drew Barrymore stars in the Art of Fashion campaign for Fall 2011. This marks the first time since 1994 that a celebrity, rather than a professional model, has been cast in the seasonal Neiman Marcus campaign. Famed photographer Norman Jean Roy, who shoots regularly for Michael Kors and Vanity Fair, shot the campaign in Los Angeles, on the “New York street” set at Paramount.

Creed Launches Royal-Oud, White Flowers and Original Cologne

creed royal-oudCreed has released three exquisite new scents created by sixth-generation master perfumer Olivier Creed. Let’s start with Royal-Oud, which is unisex. Oud is a substance coaxed from the agarwood trees of India and said to be more costly, per ounce, than palladium. Erwin Creed, (seventh generation,) personally obtained it in India with respect for local rules and livelihoods. Hand-selecting ingredients worldwide has become one of Erwin’s increasing duties in his ongoing apprenticeship under his father. As a base note, oud powers the woody oriental scent, designed to evoke “Palaces both Persian and Parisian.”  Indeed, this scent is a smash hit in the NMdaily office, where staffers have been spritzing it with abandon, dreaming of empires and treasures. Fans of Creed’s Santal Imperial or Spice & Wood will certainly want to compare.

Going Rogue

Rogue leather jacket

As the self-proclaimed dark horse of Americana, Rogue is for the modern guy who consistently maintains a five o’clock shadow, rocks out to Sly and The Family Stone, and counts his best worked-in leather jacket as one of his wardrobe essentials. NMdaily spoke with designer Jimmy Reilly about the motorcycle-inspired collection.

What is your background in design?

You could say I got drafted out of high school and began designing outerwear because I was living the lifestyle.

A Dozen Roses For Happy Noses

A Dozen Roses

Iced White, Gold Rush, and Shakespeare In Love

Roses have served as inspiration for poets, artists, designers and now they have inspired a new series of fragrances. A Dozen Roses launches three unique scents: Shakespeare in Love, Gold Rush and Iced White.  Sandy Cataldo and Lynn Welsh Emmolo, two successful beauty executives with a passion for art and pure perfumery, created the scents. “I like to walk into a room with a unique piece of clothing or a signature scent, something that is my own,” says Emmolo. Each bottle features hand painted works of art paying homage to the idea of individual beauty. The original fragrances are imbued with 100% natural rose absolute and wrapped in an essence of distinct floral and fruity notes.  A Dozen Roses is available exclusively at Neiman Marcus stores and NeimanMarcus.com.

Guess who?

burberry
For the first time since the Nineties, Neiman Marcus has tapped a celebrity (not a model) to star in the Art of Fashion. It takes an A-lister to carry the biggest campaign of the season, showcasing some of the most important designer looks of the Fall 2011 season. And that’s all we can say about her for now. But here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at some of the Fall looks that made the cut, starting with Burberry Prorsum, above.

On the Road: Winks by Georgie

Jane Wilder and Megan Allen

The Georgia belles behind the faux lash collection Winks by Georgie are on an NM road trip, like Thelma & Louise with infinitely better handbags. Megan Allen (who founded the company with her sister Abbey Allen,) and Jane Wilder have checked off Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Newport Beach and Beverly Hills on a mission to get women over their apprehension toward faux lashes. Maybe you don’t think you can apply them. You can; it takes just a minimum of practice. Maybe you don’t think they’ll look natural. They will. They come in multiple styles, and the La Cherie (NM Beauty Award winner) is the most understated, for a daytime look. And if it’s the adhesive that gives you pause, Winks’ uses a soothing botanical-infused adhesive with no parabens, phlalates, formaldehyde, or synthetic fragrance.
