Angelo Di Febo is Brioni’s Youngest Chief Master Tailor

Angelo Di Febo Brioni

Brioni's Angelo Di Febo

This year Brioni introduced its youngest chief master tailor, Angelo Di Febo, 27. This graduate of the Brioni Tailoring School (Nazareno Fonticoli) became an integral component of the house, due to his advanced tailoring and production techniques. He’s already been involved in creating wardrobe pieces for James Bond in “The World is Not Enough” and “Die Another Day.” He embodies the Brioni slogan, “Be One of a Kind.” All this, before he’s hit 30.

Where are you originally from? How did you get into this industry?

I grow up in Penne, a place close to the sea and with a high quality of life and, above all, an area with a very deep tradition in tailoring. Even today, you can still find what we call “bottega” (tailor shops) with an old tailor. As you know, Brioni founded a school here. I graduated from the Brioni Tailoring School, “Nazareno Fonticoli,” and upon graduation, I started working immediately for the design house.

Tom Ford Launches Makeup & Skin Care (We Have Photos!)

We already know and treasure Tom Ford lipsticks and fragrances. At last, Tom Ford Beauty now encompasses a full range of cosmetics and skin treatments; and they are a paragon of glamour and luxury. Tom Ford’s vision is that any woman can create a complete look in which her individual beauty is amplified and she appears to radiate from within. He says a defined beauty look, whether muted and elegant or unabashedly glamorous, lets a woman fully express herself, her mood and the times.

At the core of Tom Ford Beauty is the sumptuous color that makes up the signature look—sensual eyes, bold cheeks and lacquered lips—achievable with minimum effort and maximum effectiveness. In addition, the collection includes Ford’s essential products for creating energized and illuminated skin, and for defining and sculpting the face before applying color.

Behind The Book: The Irish Manor & Moorlands

For the October men’s issue of The Book, Neiman Marcus art director Cesar Ramirez and his creative team shot Fall’s rugged yet refined men’s trends in their natural element – Ireland.

“We set out to find a location that would speak to that, something with indoor and outdoor possibilities,” Ramirez says of the multifunctional backdrop needed to canvas both the season’s sophisticated suiting and its utilitarian hiking boots and parkas. “So we found a beautiful manor house just outside of Dublin and some amazing moorland in the area that was part of the famous Guinness Estate.”

Introducing Chanel Perfection Lumiere

Chanel Perfection Lumiere

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation

This month Chanel counters are making room for their highest performing foundation to date, Perfection Lumiere Flawless Fluid Makeup. Chanel’s new foundation features an oil-free formula and SPF 10. Its long-wearing properties, said to hold up all day—depending on weather conditions and skin type of course—are a Chanel beauty breakthrough.

Longevity aside, the real buzz surrounding the release is Perfection Lumiere’s ability to seemingly perfect. Achieving perfection starts with the right color match. Having a shade too pink, too orange or a dreaded foundation line are avoidable with Perfection Lumiere’s lineup of 20 shades, Chanel’s broadest foundation span yet, ranging from the very light Beige Rose 12 to the very dark Ambre 154. For those who prefer medium-to-full coverage foundation, Perfection Lumiere is ideal for everyday use because it not only evens your skin tone, as every foundation should, but it leaves your face looking flawless and shine free. Apply lightly for a soft natural look or gradually build up for greater coverage.

Visit your Chanel counter at Neiman Marcus to find your perfect match or shop Chanel online at NeimanMarcus.com.

Conversation With: Lydia Mondavi of 29 Cosmetics & Skincare

29 Cosmetics, Lydia Mondavi

Bordeaux by Day Trend Set

29 cosmetics and skincare, named after Northern California’s scenic highway 29, is redefining beauty with none other than Napa’s native fruit – the grape. Lydia Mondavi, founder of 29 and wife of Robert Mondavi Jr. of the famed Napa wine dynasty, worked alongside her mother Anita Wilbanks to create a brand that transcends generations. Each product is infused with grape seed extract, a natural byproduct of the Mondavi family’s winemaking, which combats free radicals and neutralizes signs of aging in the skin.  According to Mondavi, the extract is 20 times more efficient than vitamin C and 50 times more effective than vitamin E as a free-radical assailant.  All 29 products have anti-aging properties in addition to offering the benefits of clearer, smoother skin by evening pigmentation and improving overall texture.  We caught up with Mondavi while she was preparing the Cabernet Crush, an exclusive treatment available for a limited time each year (during wine harvest) at 29 Spa at The Mansion on Peachtree, a Rosewood Hotel.

Home Makeover With Marie Turner

Marie Turner Interior Design

Marie Turner standing her designed space at Neiman Marcus

The gift and epicure gallery of Neiman Marcus’ flagship store in Downtown Dallas needed a makeover.  Like an outfit, a well-dressed room pulls together luxurious textures, a traditional and modern mix, and unexpected accessories to form a standout stylish look.

To get the job done, NM flew in rising interior designer Marie Turner. (You might recognize Marie from the pages of Elle Décor. Her work has been featured twice in the past year.) She began to revamp and revitalize the space that’s home to Hermès china, Chanel coffee table books and Donna Karan singing bowls.

Orlane Paris Creme Royale Gold Facial

Orlane Paris, Creme Royale Gold Facial

Orlane Paris' Créme Royale Gold Facial

They don’t call Paris the City of Light for nothing. It has a certain glow — smooth, luminous skin requiring minimal coverage, projecting elegant, natural beauty. Luckily, Orlane Paris’ Creme Royal collection is your ticket to radiant skin.  The best part is, throughout October an Orlane national esthetician will travel to select Neiman Marcus’ stores to perform the ultimate treatment — Créme Royal Gold Facial.

According to Orlane, this exceptional facial provides the most demanding skin the secret to longevity in the extraordinary anti-aging properties of 24-karat gold. What a luxurious response to the most ambitious anti-aging goal: “bringing your skin back to life.”  Gold reinforces the skin’s defenses and resilience, while the facial’s detoxifying, anti-inflammatory qualities help the skin combat stressors and free radicals. Overall, this anti-aging facial, with its intensive toning, regenerating and line-reducing properties, preserves the skin’s youth and beauty.

South by Andy South Launches at Ala Moana

Fans of Project Runway will no doubt remember Andy South from Season 8. As a finalist, the Honolulu designer’s sophisticated, Asian-inspired collection for Fall 2010 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was judged a hit. Exactly one year later, at Neiman Marcus Ala Moana, South introduced his first collection, for Fall 2011. It was received with resounding success as Honolulu’s best-dressed women lined up to buy blouses, pants, vests and jackets from the 17-piece, contemporary collection. Even the models were trying and buying.

Roopal’s Paris Journal – Au Revoir

72 hours left in the City of Lights! The shows may be finished but our team is out in force, in the showrooms. This is when we see the clothes up close, and buy the collection for our stores. It’s a collective edit, so we can bring the best of the best assortments to a store near you. Here are a few highlights from my last few days in Paris.

Friday, October 7th

8:15 am:  Breakfast with Akris‘ Albert Kriemler. I always love to have a little one-on-one time with Albert. An early breakfast Chez Kriemler sounded like a perfect start to my day.

Breakfast with Albert

I was curious to hear about what is happening in Albert’s life, what was the reaction to the collection, and what is on his agenda in the coming weeks. Albert is always on the go. After breakfast he was heading to his Spring 2012 photo shoot somewhere outside of Paris. (I can’t say too much, but it is very cool).

Sheer Madness at Paris Fashion Week

Here is one clear trend to emerge from Paris Fashion Week, both on and off the runways. Aside from the sheerness, the chic look is quite demure and covered up. For attendees of fashion week, it offered a great way to look au courant for Fall while coping with the unexpected Paris heat. Of course, the right underpinnings are crucial.
