Inspired: Nest Fine Fragrances

Passiflora

Passiflora

This month NEST, a company known for chic candles, makes its first foray into fine fragrance with a collection inspired by the botanical artworks of Mrs. Delany, an 18th century English artist who used tissue paper to intricately replicate more than 1,000 exceptionally detailed plants and flowers.

Midnight Fleur

Midnight Fleur

NEST founder Laura Slatkin spent a year studying Mrs. Delany’s dramatic decoupage botanicals to identify concepts that could be translated into fragrance. Slatkin then commissioned Russian-born artist Alexander “Sasha” Solodukho to bring her ideas to life in watercolor. To create scents befitting the meticulous artwork, Slatkin turned to master perfumer Christophe Laudamiel for two of the fragrances, Amazon Lily and Passiflora, and Robertet’s master perfumer Jerome Epinette for the third, Midnight Fleur.

Living: Rosewood Fragrance Butler

Living: Rosewood Fragrance Butler

The art of traveling is about soaking up a city and all its distinct flavors, sights and sounds. Now Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is bringing a luxury twist to taking in its scents as well – one that doesn’t require leaving your room. At nine Rosewood properties, simply ring for the fragrance butler and a white-gloved attendant will arrive with a silver tray holding ten fragrances specifically chosen to suit the city and its guests.  Try one, or as many as you like. You can even change from day to dinner.

The Carlyle in New York showcases scents reflective of its “elegant, old-world feel,” such as Hérmes Eau des Merveilles and Tom Ford for Men. At the Mansion on Turtle Creek, the feminine Givenchy Dahlia Noir and Prada Candy express Dallas’s Southern charm. And by the San Francisco Bay, Rosewood Sand Hill has partnered with the organic fragrance company Anje to create California woods, an exclusive scent with base notes of the area’s native rose and oak moss.

“Rosewood has always prided itself on offering special signature services that make a guest’s stay more like a journey and less like travel,” says Rosewood VP Ralph Aruzza. The fragrance butler gives guests “what they need before they even recognize the need for it.” And, we might add, leaves one less thing to pack.

The Carlyle, a Rosewood hotel in New York City, recommends:

For her

Hermés Eau des Merveilles

Chanel Chance

Tom Ford Black Orchid

Stella McCartney Stella

Comme des Garcons Daphne

The Winner Is…Emilee Anne, Blogger On The CUSP!

Emilee Anne

Emilee Anne Hefflefinger, Blogger On The Cusp

Thank you to all who voted to decide our Blogger On The CUSP! We have had barrels of fun with all of our finalists throughout this campaign. And we are thrilled with the winner of the popular vote: Emilee Anne!  We’re presenting her gift card on Nov. 17, when she’ll be hosting festivities at our Downtown Dallas flagship, 2-4 pm. It’s a return to the mother ship for Emilee Anne Hefflefinger, a native of Dallas now living in New York. She attended Parsons School of Design, earning a bachelor’s in Fashion Design. She currently designs jewelry at Marc Jacobs and blogs after hours. She uses her blog to share inspiration, designs and favorite trends including current and vintage fashions. “I want to make an impact on the fashion industry and inspire people like the designers I admire have inspired me,” she says. We say she is the perfect embodiment of the CUSP slogan, Where Smart Meets Stylish. She’s just starting what will surely be a great career in fashion and media, and we’re proud to call her ours for the moment!

“Before I was able to attend a fashion design school, Neiman’s was my learning institution,” says Emilee. “Neiman Marcus introduced me to the designers I still admire today, like Marc Jacobs. Of course my mother and I love to shop, but what really made an impact on me was the opportunity to see the details and craftsmanship of designer garments in person throughout each season. This store, this home, fostered my love for fashion and made me the designer I am today. And for this reason, I am honored to be the Blogger on the Cusp!”

Bloggers Wear: Multiple Rings

Bloggers Wear: Multiple Rings

Balenciaga Spring 2013.

In seasons past the stacked wrist was the official symbol of fashion blogger success.  Finding the ideal mash-up of mixed metals, materials, eras and sizes was considered fashion science. With the mastery of one subject comes the next — multiple rings! Stacks of rings were spotted on every finger at the Balenciaga Spring runway in Paris this season. Naturally, like most of Nicolas Ghesquiere’s designs, the phenomenon caught on among fashion bloggers. This is how the trend transitions to the fashion blogosphere.

San Francisco-based blogger Blair Eadie, of the blog Atlantic-Pacific, wears a mix of stacked David Yurman & YSL rings with burgundy nails, an armful of cuffs, the leather leg and smoking slippers.
