Ivanka Trump’s Ten Things For Mother’s Day!

Ivanka Trump

1. Favorite Kitchen Item: I’m obsessed with Kate Spade’s pack-a-picnic basket. I love the retro vibe that makes it cute and practical. It’s ideal for picnics in Central Park during summertime.

2. Favorite Piece of Jewelry to Receive/Give on Mother’s Day: Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry seed and pearl diamond tassel necklace. This piece is timeless. Available at select Neiman Marcus stores.

3. Favorite Museum: The Guggenheim is at the top of my list. I try to visit regularly and I’m really looking forward to the opening of the Frank Lloyd Wright tribute exhibit opening in July.

4. Favorite Flowers From: My husband. I’m partial to classic roses. They are sophisticated, beautiful and appropriate for all seasons.

5. Favorite Practical Mother’s Day Gift: A framed picture of my kids and loved ones is always special. Michael Aram has a beautiful selection of frames.

6. Favorite Thing to Wake Up to on Mother’s Day: Arabella’s kisses and anything homemade. Finger-painting has become my favorite artistic medium!

7. Favorite Spa Treatment: The Balancing Massage and the Turkish Hammam at Trump SoHo are fantastic. What mom wouldn’t love to be pampered on her special day?

8. Favorite Place for Mother’s Day Brunch: ABC Kitchen is a terrific spot for brunch. Great atmosphere and the food is delicious. This year, I prefer to stay home for brunch. I enjoy cooking and it’s nice to unwind at home with my family as often as I can. Arabella is old enough to help me with little tasks like stirring, which is adorable.

9. Favorite Beauty Product: Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup is lightweight and perfect for an evening out. Every mom needs a night out now and then!

10. There is nothing quite like leaving the city for a peaceful afternoon at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. The equestrian trails are the perfect place for a quiet stroll with my family.

Inspired: Oscar de la Renta Essential Luxuries

Oscar de la Renta Essential Luxuries

Casa de la Renta in Punta Cana.

Oscar de la Renta has launched Essential Luxuries, a collection of six scents evoking the worldly life of one of fashion’s most gracious bon vivants.

Santo Domingo is a citrusy, spicy tabac fragrance inspired by the Dominican Republic, Mr. de la Renta’s birthplace.

Granada refers to his life in Spain, where he moved in his youth to study painting and became an apprentice to Cristobal Balenciaga. The scent is an homage to the lush gardens of the Alhambra.

Mi Corazon is a white floral bouquet associated with his devotion to family. He created it for his daughter Eliza Bolen.

Sargasso is a watery, green scent channeling the air and vegetation where the Sargasso Sea touches the shores of Punta Cana.

Coralina is named for an opalescent, ginger-colored stone indigenous to the Dominican Republic. He used the stone to unify many of his habitats and signature spaces. Now it stands for the refinement and femininity of the Oscar woman.

Clover Canyon, Fall 2013.

Clover Canyon, Fall 2013.

Kevyn Aucoin lead artist Deanna Melluso describes the makeup for Clover Canyon‘s NYFW Fall 2013 show as a “Russian ballerina, ice princess.” Inspired by the Ballet Russe, Clover Canyon brought the nation’s opulence to life through graphic constructivism, crown jewels and glittering ballet slippers. Below Melluso shares the products used to accentuate the prints encapsulating in the collection.

Backstage Beauty: Bobbi Brown at Tibi

For Fall 2013 Tibi designer Amy Smilovic presented a sporty and versatile vibe. The collection blended urban edginess with 90s refinement through utilitarian pieces and sculpted silhouettes. To complement the collection, the Bobbi Brown team created an angular makeup look, conveying confidence and ease with an unstructured black chocolate smokey eye, a soft hint of blush and a pale soft lip.

NM @ NYFW — Monday Best

8:00 a.m.  - Isabel Marant showroom

My day started bright and early at the Isabel Marant showroom with Cusp fashion director Caroline Maguire and buyer Brittany Bennett.  We got an up-close-and-personal look at Marant’s Fall 2013 contemporary collection, Etolie. Maguire and Bennett are obsessing over Marant’s collection and calling first dibs on a beautiful baseball bomber.  — KS

1:00 p.m. – Ohne Titel Fall 2013 show

The fashion masses headed downtown to Milk Studios for the Ohne Titel show this afternoon.  The Fall collection was filled with pops of color and geometric patterns, everyone from street-style star Miroslava Duma to Vogue editor Meredith Melling Burke were present. The Cusp buyers are obsessed with this new line. — KS

2:00 p.m. – Donna Karan

After Ohne Titel wrapped I hopped in NM fashion director Ken Downing’s car and we raced to Donna Karan. When we arrived Donna’s right-hand-woman @DKNYprgirl, equipped with headset and clipboard, showed us to our seats. The mood was set with a large abstract gold sculpture anchoring the runway. Models with swinging high-ponytails dashed down the runway to classic rock tunes. The show program describes the collection as an evolution of seven easy pieces, a system where “the body and spirit communicate the sensuality and power of being a woman.” — SB

2:00 p.m. – 3.1 Phillip Lim backstage

3.1 Phillip Lim often represents the quintessential cool girl – nonchalant, understated and confident.  This Fall the lust-worthy look evolves – it’s all about perfecting the intentionally undone do. Backstage hair stylist Paul Hanion, for Frederic Fekkai, finessed the model’s hair by perfecting the nonchalant tuck. Hanion meticulously pinned bobbi pins to the ends of the hair, mimicking the ends being tucked into the collar of a coat or jacket.  Nars makeup artists topped off the look with an understated eye and bold lip. — KS

Phillip Lim packed the house for his Fall 2013 show, held at the U.S. Post Office.  I was lucky enough to get seated front row, next to Scott Schuman the Sartorialist, with the perfect photographer’s view. “I want to wear the entire collection now,”  overheard from a guest leaving the show. – KS

5:00 p.m. – Alice + Olivia presentation

Alice + Olivia’s Fall 2013 presentation was a whimsical, dramatic affair.  Guests sipped champagne through striped straws while snapping photos of decadent models and fun accessories – sunglass-clad party pumps and a zebra-shaped handbag were a few of the Fall favorites.  The collection was rich in color and detailed brocade fabrics. — KS

6:30 p.m. – Wes Gordon presentation

All the top fashion editors are watching 26-year-old Wes Gordon closely. This was certainly evident on Monday night when the line to get into Gordon’s Fall 2013 presentation at the Gramercy Theatre was circling the block. The up-and-coming young talent’s collection featured gorgeous draping, billowing silk capes, and colorful furs. – SB

8:00 p.m. – Marc by Marc Jacobs show

Even though the Marc by Marc Jacobs show date, time and location were changed at the last minute, the fashion set had no problem rearranging hectic NYFW schedules to accommodate the occasion. Show-goers were embracing Marc’s Spring obsession with bold geometric prints (Anna Dello Russo was sitting front row in a green check mini dress from Jacobs’ Louis Vuitton Spring runway collection). For Fall, the hair was teased and the prints and color palette were evocative of a laid-back 70s era. — SB

Kenny Scharf mural on Houston and Bowery streets in New York, 2010.

After a successful partnership with Jeff Koons last year, Kiehl’s has once again commissioned a prominent contemporary artist for a cause.  This season New York-based pop artist Kenny Scharf brings his cartoony grafitti to Kiehl’s Crème de Corps.

Keihl's + Kenny Scharf

Kiehl's + Kenny Scharf

Although Scharf’s works can be seen in renowned museums and galleries around the world, he is known for bringing his colorful creations elsewhere for appreciation. His talent has been on display in the streets, animated on TV programs like The Simpsons, and even on Lance Armstrong’s bicycle in the Tour de France. Now for a limited time, you’ll find a little piece by Kenny Scharf at Neiman Marcus, a dual-purpose piece that serves as art and softens skin.

100% of profits from the Kiehl’s and Kenny Scharf collaboration will be donated to children’s charities around the world.
