But this week we’re going big! To celebrate the launch of Neiman Marcus’ Fall face (cherry lips, everyone!) we have lined up a roster of talented industry professionals to tackle your cosmetic queries – each day of the week.
Monday, July 30 11am – 1 pm CT: Cle de Peau Beaute‘s Blair Bloom
Question: I have oily combination skin and started showing signs of aging. What would be the first step for a beautiful skin?
Blair Bloom: I would recommend our Cleansing Cream for PM to remove all the make-up. The second step of cleansing is the Refreshing Cleansing foam for your skin type. This cleanses the skin once make-up has been removed. Then, Refreshing Balancing Lotion.
Question: Why would I need 2 different kinds of cleansing?
Blair Bloom: It is a very Japanese ritual to use two separate cleansers: one to completely dissolve make-up and a second one to remove impurities, to best prepare skin to accept the skin care that you apply afterwards.
Question: I would like to know what lip color you would recommend for me. I like a lip color that stays well, but is not drying. I would like a bright color and I look better in warm colors. I am Caucasian, blonde and hazel eyes and have a lot of color to my lips naturally.
Blair Bloom: I would recommend Extra Rich Lipstick shade R2 and T1. It is a very moisturizing and long wearing lipstick. I also suggest to use lip liner pencil and lip brush to apply it.
Question: I have such a blend complexion… I need a pick me up when I do not have a tan and was thinking of Luminizing Face Enhancer.
Blair Bloom: I would recommend Luminizing Face Enhancer in shade 1 (Gold) – the warm color, which will illuminate your complexion.
Wednesday, August 1 11AM – 1pm CT: Laura Mercier‘s Pamela Massi-Delgadillo
Question: What are the color trends for Fall?
Pamela Massi-Delgadillo: The inspiration for Fall is the 40′s. Lots of gold, chocolates, bronzes and burgundy shades.
Question: Is the smooth focus pressed setting powder actually green? What is the reason for it?
Pamela Massi-Delgadillo: It has a light green color to camouflage redness on the skin and it is not visible on the complexion.
Question: Is there a specific palette that i should use for smokey eyes or can i do it with different palettes?
Pamela Massi-Delgadillo: For smokey eyes I would suggest the Mystere shades in Eye Color Duet. Also, I suggest the burgundy shade in the mascara. Color mascara is a huge trend for Fall.
Thursday, August 2 11am – 1PM CT: Bobbi Brown’s Leane Hance
Question: What is your opinion on the color of mascara for older women? I heard a lot of different stories about it…
Leane Hance: Bobbi always says that all women look great in black mascara, no matter the age.
Question: I am in my 40′s, have fair skin, red hair and brown eyes. I never think brown eye shadows look good on me.What do you recommend?
Leane Hance: To make your eyes pop I suggest the eye shadow in white as well as the cement shade together with the Long-Wear gel eye liner in Ivy.
Question: Will smokey eyes still be in for Fall?
Leane Hance: Absolutely! To create smokey eyes I recommend the Long-wear Gel Eyeliner in Twilight Night Ink and Long-wear Eye Pencil in Jet.
Question: What do you see as Fall trends in eye make-up?
Leane Hance: Bobbi is showing lots of textures with simmer and sparkle on the eye. It is all about contrasting and combining these textures. There are also lots of pinks and blacks in the collection this Fall.
Thursday, August 2 5PM – 7PM CT: Le Metier de Beaute‘s Mikey Castillo
Question: What are the Fall colors for nails?
Mikey Castillo: For Fall we will be coming out with chocolate shades, a variety of fun brown hues.
Question: How do you choose your nail color: match your skin, you make-up, your clothes, or just pick what you like?
Mikey Castillo: I recommend choosing shades that flatter you best: match the shades with your lifestyle, to where you are going to. Matching with your make-up or clothes can be somewhat too much.
Question: Which is the kaleidoscope color for Fall?
Mikey Castillo: We have one coming out for Fall that will be the most nude we have ever done. The theme is the sixties and the collection is overall warm and neutral, very simple.
Question: Would you recommend applying foundation with sponge, brush or your fingers?
Mikey Castillo: Our foundations are designed to work with any of those options. We do however offer an excellent foundation brush and keep in mind that our foundation does not require a primer.
Question: I have oily skin: would you recommend to invest in make-up or skin care?
Mikey Castillo: Both are important: good skincare and beautiful color. I recommend not to use moisturizer, you can use both the Daily Renew Cleanser and Toner, and then use the oil-free Classic Flawless-Finish Liquid foundation, that also works as a primer.
Friday, August 3 11AM – 1PM CT: Lancome‘s Kristie Barrile
Question: I’d like lipsticks that are very creamy but don’t streak. And I am looking for long-lasting formulas in a nice color for the remainder of summer. What would you recommend?
Kristie Barrile: Our new Rouge in Love lipstick would be perfect. It provides the sheen of a gloss, the color payoff of a lipstick, and the comfort of a lip balm in one formula. One of the most popular shades in the coral tones – 322 is really lovely.
Question: I recall Isabella Rosellini was in a Tresor commercial and i loved it, but have never tried it. Can you describe the fragrance?
Kristie Barrile: The Tresor captures the spirit of love. It is floral and fruity and has a little drop of musk. It is a Lancome signature fragrance.
Question: Which would be the right exfoliator for normal to dry skin type?
Kristie Barrile: I would recommend the Exfoliator Comfort for normal to dry skin. It should be used two times a week and it is gentle enough to be used with Clarisonic.
