Tom Ford Beauty, A Blogger Makeover

Tom Ford and model Laura Stone grace the season's campaign, a statement of all-out glamour.
Tastemaker, provocateur, film director and designer Tom Ford recently added beauty products to his repertoire. Since he already designed couture, men’s wear, accessories and fragrance, makeup and skincare were the clear next step in the creating the ultimate Tom Ford experience. The Tom Ford face focuses on radiant, sexy skin, a flawless complexion, and sensuous, glamorous color.
Dallas-based makeup artist Russ Brouse demonstrated how to bring Mr. Ford’s vision to life, even on a daily basis.

Contouring — emphasizing and enhancing the architecture of the face — is one of the most important parts of the Tom Ford look. Perfect facial contouring is easily achieved with two products, Shade & Illuminate (a two-tone cream compact) and the Shade & Illuminate Brush (a small, dense, paddle-shaped brush slightly wider than your thumb).

Russ used one side of the brush in the darker cream (the contouring shade), felt for the cheekbone, then naturally applied a single swipe just below it — and blended with brush and fingers. He used the other side of the brush in the lighter cream (the highlighting shade), and applied just above the cheekbone. Because Shade & Illuminate is a cream product, it blends like a dream, so the two shades (Intensity 1 and Intensity 2) actually cover quite a wide spectrum of skin tones.
Brows are an important landmark on the face, and Tom Ford’s Brow Sculptor is an essential part of his collection. This mechanical pencil has a broad, angled lead (a “calligraphy tip”), which can be used head-on for a narrower line, or flat for a broader stroke. The back cap pulls off to reveal a mascara wand (combing through the brows yields more natural, translucent color), and untwists to reveal a grooved trough, which sharpens the lead as you run it through the trough.
Using the Silvered Topaz quad, Russ started with the third shade (a dusty purple) all over the lid and as a liner under the eye. He used the fluffier Eyeshadow Brush to keep this wash of color light. To add to the complexity of the look, he lightly applied the second shade (a cool silver) on top of the purple.

He used the fourth shade as a liner and swept it up into the crease, using the Eyeshadow Contour Brush. Russ tightlined and lined the lower waterline with blue kohl eyeliner pencil Midnight, and then — the coup d’grace — he applied the sparkly, celestial first shade to the inner half of the eyelid, focusing on the inner corner. He finished with a coat of Raven mascara.
With so much glamour on the eyes, Russ wanted to keep the lips and cheeks more subdued. He selected Blush Nude lipstick and the corresponding Naked Lipgloss. (Mr. Ford believes in matching your gloss to your lipstick.) Russ applied lip color with the square Lip Brush, which allows you to precisely “line” your lips with color. He finished with Frantic Pink Blush, applied with the Cheek Brush.
