Sisters discover the power of phytoestrogens and launch a first-of-its-kind, anti-aging skin care collection, VENeffect.
When Cecil Booth consulted her sister, Rebecca Booth, a gynecologist, about her hormones and their impact on her skin, the beauty industry vet was met with some groundbreaking insight.
“There is an undeniable and well documented link between estrogen and collagen,” says Dr. Booth, a sought-after gynecologist specializing in hormonal wellness and author of best-selling book The Venus Week. “As the influence of estrogen wanes from its peak in our twenties, collagen declines, resulting in a loss of elasticity and increase of fine lines and winkles in our skin.”
Cecil, who worked in the beauty industry, developing products for more than 20 years, was intrigued that there were no products on the market for something that affects all women – hormonal aging.
“This unmet need led us to search the world for effective ingredients and work with skin scientists across the country to develop the VENeffect line,” Cecil says.
The determined duo unearthed the solution in phytoestrogens, compounds found in plants. Phytoestrogens safely and effectively bind to estrogen receptors in skin, preserving and restoring collagen, thereby increasing elasticity and reversing the signs of hormonal aging.
“This small molecular size of phytoestrogens allows them to easily penetrate facial skin and bind with estrogen receptors,” Dr. Booth says of the unique power of phytoestrogens.
Cecil and Rebecca took this key ingredient, which is completely unique to their line, along with peptides, proteins and nourishing ingredients, and developed VENeffect.
