In 1999 Clive Christian took the reins of one of the oldest British Perfume Houses, The Crown Perfumery, first made famous 135 years ago when Queen Victoria honored the house by giving her crown as a symbol of British excellence.  Later that year, Christian’s daughter Victoria joined the company and launched the Clive Christian Perfume Collection. Today, the London-based father and daughter continue to ensure the highest quality by maintaining their original philosophy, “design first, then cost.”

Victoria attributes the success of No. 1, the world’s most expensive perfume, to her father’s strength and ability to never compromise.  “We are proud to carry these principles forward to a new generation,” says Victoria. Each perfume in the collection evokes a feeling based on these principles.  One of Victoria’s favorite perfumes is C, for women, which launched earlier this year from the Private Collection.

“My father always said, ‘your perfume should simply be an extension of your handshake’ – which always says a lot about an individual.”

Victoria’s pride for true beauty is reflected in her London dressing room and bathroom.  Vintage perfume bottles and fresh flowers sit atop marble counters and a custom Clive Christian sink (her father also designs furniture). Once again, quality and attention to detail are paramount.

We asked Victoria to describe her beauty routine.

“Whenever possible, I wake up with the sunrise – this helps the smile come from the inside!” Depending on where she is (most of her time is spent between New York and London) she does Pilates, swims, or “at the very least I put on some loud Beyonce tunes to get the blood flowing – makes the eyes bright,” says Victoria.

She enjoys Kiehl’s bath products, Keratin shampoo and conditioner, and Moroccan oil for her hair.  Another one of her favorites is the Clarisonic. “It wakes up the skin, and makes a big difference to my level of skin happiness.”  Lastly, she loves simple Nivea body lotion. “It’s the perfect accompaniment for my chosen Clive Christian perfume of the day!”
