Something Blue: Nest Fragrances
Neiman Marcus has carried Nest Fragrances since day 1 because the candles smell fantastic. But there’s another great reason to support Nest. Founder and CEO Laura Slatkin and husband Harry Slatkin are extremely devoted to autism-related philanthropy. They created the Blue Garden Autism Candle ($32) specifically to benefit autism.
“We created Blue Garden because we have a son with autism,” says Laura. “My husband and I have an organization, the New York Center For Austism, and we started a charter school for children with autism, and a training institute at Hunter College. We’re involved in the development of a brain institute with New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell. And I sit on the board of Autism Speaks, which funds a tremendous amount of biomedical research into the causes of autism and finding a cure. All the profits from Blue Garden go to Autism Speaks. And it’s very popular scent.”
The fragrance mingles blue hydrangea, hyacinth, forget-me-nots, green notes and watery notes to create the aroma of a lush floral garden. It also stands out among Nest candles because its box is blue rather than black.
On April 16, Neiman Marcus Westchester and Nest are throwing a blue party with Nest and Laura Slatkin, 1:00-4:00. All are welcome.
