Stylish Space: Gift Galleries Get a Rob Dailey Makeover

For the flagship store’s seasonal Gift Galleries redo, NM Downtown general manager Shelle Sills tapped Dallas decorator Rob Dailey to create Spring’s Fantasy Pop-Up Home Shop.
“This was a fun and a really great project,” says Dailey, who typically works on restaurants and residences. “This was very different and out of the box for me.” Dailey’s inspiration for the room that typically houses stacks of Assouline coffee table books and John Derian desk accessories, was none other than the great Stanley Marcus. Dailey, like Marcus, is an admirer of modern art and decided to spotlight Texas artists with pieces like Alex Remington’s Mow.

The room, which is on display the entire month of April, featured furniture that Dailey designed, commissioned, or found.
“It’s a curatorial experience with pieces from all over,” Dailey says of the space that took 6 weeks to create. “I designed the sofa, the Lucite pieces and the Chinese table. The other stuff I sort of commissioned with the artists. The desk is George Sellers (who also made the insects sitting on the dining table); some is vintage; the grey leather chairs are Romweber from Harold Schwartz in the 1960s; the teak chairs are from David Sutherland’s antique collection; and the pillows are by Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith and Alexander McQueen for the Rug Company.”
Dailey’s NM Dallas-Downtown Gift Galleries makeover will be on view until the end of April.
