Buyer’s Buy: Bruce Halus, Men’s Clothing

As Vice President of Men’s Clothing for NM stores, you see every article of clothing in your market. What did you personally purchase for Fall/Winter?
Two Caruso made-to-measure suits: one double-breasted. grey chalk stripe in a seasonal English cloth, and one solid navy flannel with three open patch pockets and brown horn buttons. Double breasted has always been a favorite of mine and having the navy suit made with the open patch pockets allows me to also wear it as a blazer. A great item for travelling. I also bought Incotex grey flannel trousers with a cargo pocket and lots of seasonal neckwear in solid flannels and cashmere.
Bruce's second made-to-measure suit this season is a Caruso solid navy flannel, three-piece suit. Worn with a Kiton shirt, Drakes of London tie and Brioni pocket square.
- The open patch pockets and brown horn buttons make the navy suit more casual for everyday occasions.
Where would you typically wear these?
I will wear all of it to the office and into market appointments. I will also wear the cargo flannels out to dinner with the navy suit jacket.

Great value, and since it is MTM, the fit is always perfect.

How would you describe your personal style?
Fairly classic, but I also like clothing to be interesting. I enjoy getting dressed in the morning. Sometimes it starts with a tie I want to wear and I’ll pick a suit that goes with it. Other times it starts with the suit or jacket.

What are the trends in your market this season, and which of these are you incorporating personally?
Definitely seasonal dressing. (I have the same grey cargo trousers in a spring weight.) I love flannel and cashmere in the fall, and cottons and linen in the spring and summer. I have also found that by seasonally rotating my wardrobe, it all lasts longer. Double breasted is also finding its way into more men’s closets. Today’s DB is trimmer, shorter and much more flattering and modern then the DBs of the past.
