Chopard & Paul Miller Racing, Start Your Engines
Chopard and Neiman Marcus recently celebrated the launch of the limited-edition men’s watch, Chopard Paul Miller Racing Mille Miglia GT XL. Though most of us associate Chopard with gorgeous fine jewelry and watches, this is not the brand’s first encounter with racing. In 1988 Chopard became the official timekeeper of the Mille Miglia – an Italian rally of collector cars. With this partnership, a new line of watches, rightfully named the Mille Miglia, was developed. A new edition is developed each year to honor the partnership. Chopard’s interest in racing did not end there. In 2002 the brand became the official timekeeper of the prestigious Grand Prix de Monaco Historique and created a watch named after that race. In keeping with custom, the Chopard Paul Miller Mille Miglia GT XL was created in celebration of Chopard’s first foray into North American motorsports.
This past summer Chopard became an official sponsor of Paul Miller Racing in the American Le Mans series. This limited edition timepiece is now available in two versions. One hundred people will own the sportier model complete with a blackened steel case and the famous rubber Dunlop Racing strap. Only 25 lucky people will own the more classic sibling, made with an 18kt rose quartz case and a black leather embossed strap.
Neiman Marcus’ Short Hills location was chosen to sell these watches because Paul Miller calls the area home. In addition to the racing team — his son, Bryce, is a co-driver of the No. 48 Porsche — Miller is the owner of a number of car dealerships in the New Jersey area. Several of these dealerships have also been selected to carry the watches.
The event showcased exquisite Chopard jewels and watches as well as the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Porsche. This seems to be the beginning of a beautiful partnership.
