Planet of the Appaman: Boys Will Rise
Their moms and dads have never shied away from style statements, so it only makes sense that the trendy Beckham, Jolie-Pitt, Stefani-Rossdale and Paltrow-Martin tykes sport Appaman. Not even tall enough to ride a roller coaster, these boys walks on the wild side with Appaman’s hipster designs for children — think slim-fit suits, puffer vests and vintage style tees.
Like its pint-sized patron, Appaman’s designer and founder was, you could say, more than just a little adventuresome growing up.
As a young boy Harald Husum spent his days exploring the sprawling fields and fjords of his native Norway with his best friend, a corduroy ape. The true life tale that seems straight from the pages of a whimsical children’s book inspired Husum to launch Appaman in 2003. It’s logo? An ape.
The line’s streetwise mix of Ameripop printed tees, cool cardigans and rock-star jeans are a reflection of the designer’s artistic lifestyle, now based in Brooklyn with his wife and two little ones.
The children’s line is now available on NeimanMarcus.com in addition to NM stores.
