For the April NM Edits catalog, a micro version of The Book, NM’s creative team was inspired by style icon Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and all of the pinks and prints of this season.

“A young Jackie Kennedy was our muse,” says NM art director Janet Longstreth, who along with photographer Tesh, stylist Gus Romano, makeup artist Susan McCarthy and hairstylist Greg Bitterman transformed model Crystal Renn into the beloved first lady. “Her elegance, poise and classic style was the inspiration.” A Brooklyn brownstone served as the set.

Renn was cast to channel Jackie O’s timeless beauty not just for her striking looks, but for her ability to get into character.

“Crystal would practice her ‘lady’ poses in front of the mirror, and then, after shooting some she would look at the images and make suggestions to the photographer and take a few more snaps,” Longstreth says of the shoot, which she describes as relaxed and upbeat. “She is a great actress and she loves channeling herself into another person.”
