A few weeks ago at Milan Fashion Week, Florentine designer Chiara Boni decided to ditch the traditional runway and present her Fall 2012 collection with a photo exhibit.
“I love to see my creations on many different kinds of women,” Boni says of the exhibition for her label La Petite Robe di Chiara Boni, that featured photographs she took of real women of all shapes, sizes and ages all wearing the same dress.
“All of these women live and work in this city [Milan], adding their different identities, characters and aptitudes,” Boni says of the variety of women she photographed for her One Dress, Many Thoughts exhibit. “The same dress for every woman, worn with a little shyness, a touch of craziness, or with simple femininity.”
Boni’s ability to universally flatter has attracted women in their twenties to women in their eighties to her work.
“As a woman I know how to hide imperfections to enhance beauty,” Boni says of her wrinkle-free, light-weight, draped designs that are ideal for traveling. “Elegant, sexy and comfortable, that’s all a woman needs.”
