The Glamourai
I had a 30-hour layover in New York, between vacationing in Miami and then heading to Palm Springs for a job ~ and this Halston Heritage dress is the only piece of clothing that survived the suitcase switch-out. It was a score from my holiday indulgence extravaganza, and I just want to wear it everywhere!

Happy Almost New Year, my dears! As hoped, the season has been filled with quality time with my favorite people ~ plus a LOT of sleeping, eating, and shopping. My sister, Erin, and I refer to our annual holiday vacation as the Sisters Spending Spree, as it’s the only time we have all year to while away hour after hour in our favorite stores. It’s a decadent indulgence, one that we look forward to and save up for. In part, the tradition involves picking out coordinating frocks for our family’s annual Christmas party, in our hometown of Austin, Texas. We look for things that feel festive, complement each other, and will continue to work year round ~ and this time we really scored! We made repeated trips to our two favorite shops: Neiman Marcus and Neiman Marcus Last Call ~ we’re absurdly loyal like that. As usual, Erin went for feminine and flirty, while I veered toward sleek and sophisticated. The one thing we agreed on was that poppy red dresses would merrily carry us from Christmas to Valentine’s Day, and any occasion in between!

There is not a more opportune time to don sparkle and shine than New Year’s Eve. Tis the season to polish silver and coordinate china patterns, and puzzle over what to wear to an array of holiday gatherings on the social calendar. The age-old debate (what to wear?) intensifies under a lack of time. NM: What’s the best way to update a LBD?
SB: A great chunky, fun, colorful necklace always does the trick!
NM: How to take sequins from day to night?
SB: Well, sometimes they have to be taken from night to day! Hello morning after! But day to night: a sweater over sequins during the day, sequins on sequins at night!
NM: When is it appropriate to wear a gown?
SB: Um, always!
NM: What evening look do you currently love?
SB: I am loving really fitted dresses like our peplum and our all-over lace. Shapes that really accentuate a woman’s curves.

SB: That is has to be worn in the evening! I love wearing dresses during the day. Throw a sweater over a long dress, so chic.
NM: Who always gets party dressing right?
SB: Neiman Marcus!
