How It’s Made: AG Jeans

From this...
Fact: The perfect pair of jeans can make a woman feel confident, sexy and, somehow, more like herself than any other article of clothing. Once you slip on a pair that feels like it was made for you, you’re hooked. And second-rate jeans won’t cut it.
For premium denim brand AG Adriano Goldschmied, fit is the secret to a pair of jeans every woman will love. And the secret to the brand’s consistent fit lies in its sprawling factory outside Los Angeles. There, AG manufactures every pair of its jeans with a unique attention to detail. In fact, 78 pairs of hands touch every pair of AG jeans during the production process.
Here’s an exclusive look behind the scenes at the AG manufacturing process that keeps your backside looking so good. One of the only vertically integrated manufacturers that still exist for denim, AG does everything from start to finish in one place. The brand does not outsource any part of the process. That means AG has much more control over the end product. No steps are missed and anything that needs to be fixed can be reacted to very quickly.

In Detail: Koral Los Angeles

After selling 7 for All Mankind five years ago, co-founder Peter Koral along with his eldest son, 29-year-old David Koral, and fellow 7 for All Mankind alumnus Rick Crane have dipped back into denim. In late July the trio launched Koral, a new Los Angeles-made denim label that prides itself in simplicity and craftsmanship.

Unfussy pockets and a discreet logo captures the essence of the brand and the product.

Koral’s finishing techniques enhance the natural nuances of denim, with handcrafted details that are meticulously applied to reveal dimension, texture and character.

With the distinct knowledge of how denim ages naturally, the brand’s signature Lived In Length collections are featured in a range of progressively altered washes from 0-Month to 48-Month.

“I’m a recent Parsons Design School Graduate, born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Currently working in the design department at Marc Jacobs, living in New York City, but I stay true to my personal style and myself. Neiman Marcus will always be my home away from home, and served as a valuable learning environment for an aspiring designer. I was raised with an appreciation for fashion and art, and I want to share my ideas and designs with a larger audience. I use my blog to showcase my personal designs along with my favorite trends including current and vintage fashions, but most of all I want to make an impact on the fashion industry and inspire people like these designers have inspired me.”

I believe that all women can take that extra step to incorporate a little glam into their everyday lives. I love all the brands that Cusp carries and I mix them with high and low pieces to create looks that are relatable and inspiring. I am constantly searching for new creative ways to wear things and always on the ‘cusp’ of fashion.”

My blog is a space where I put everything I love about fashion all into one spot that is very close to my heart! I think my world travels and adventures have brought me to where I am now and certainly influence my style in a unique way. I take huge pride in my photography and quality of what I put on my blog; it represents me and my life and I couldn’t be more honored and flattered that my readers are interested in it. “I am a Los Angeles-based stylist who started a blog with two stylist friends. We decided to showcase our individual looks and what inspires us. I want people to understand that you can look fashionable without spending all your money. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely feels good to splurge a little here and there, but you need to remember to spend on staple pieces that you will have forever. Those pieces will be your go-to’s and you will never regret having them in your closet, that’s a promise. I am a ‘Blogger on the Cusp’ because I am not afraid to try the next big trend and to show girls like me that all you need is confidence.”

And since then it has grown tremendously, these past 3 months alone I’ve been traveling for projects and fashion weeks. (Lollapalooza with Teen Vogue, 2 design collaborations, Miami Swim Week, New Zealand Fashion Week…) I believe I am a ‘Blogger on the Cusp’ because the years of growing a relationship with my readers and sharing these opportunities, these adventures and my inspiration on my blog have brought me to a very exciting moment. I feel extremely humbled and grateful to be at a point where looking back, I can see tremendous growth in comparison to where I started.”

On Set: The Christmas Book at Bonneville Salt Flats
Our creative team returned to Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats for this year’s Christmas Book because the play of light makes it look like a vast snowscape. It is very remote, however, and this video shows how much effort it took to create the right conditions in a very unique and challenging location. It was absolutely gorgeous, unlike anything I’d ever seen before. From a styling perspective, the salt presented a bit of a challenge. The salt would get on everything and cake onto the bottoms of all the shoes, and if left on there long, would eat up the fabric and ruin them. We had to make sure all the merch went through a thorough cleaning before being packed back up! The salt even corroded our car battery from sitting out there all day, and we had to get a jump before heading back into town. But we had a really hard-working and fun crew, which I think resulted in a beautiful story for the 2012 Christmas Book.

You’ve waited very patiently for this, and for that alone you belong on Santa’s “nice” list. NM and Target announced an epic co-collaboration with 24 CFDA designers way back in July. We now present the collection, which will be available December 1. As promised, it’s chockablock with giftable items for women, men, children, pets and home. What’s on your list?
Today in New York the retailers unveiled the products to the press, appeared on “Good Morning America” and announced a major integration into the ABC series “Revenge.” Target and Neiman Marcus will be the sole sponsors of the show’s November 11 finale, and in lieu of commercials, the Revenge team is creating original content incorporating the #Holiday24 collection. It will be stylish, scandalous, and it will destroy you.

NM @ Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
The third annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic returned to Will Rogers Polo Club in Pacific Palisades on Saturday. The event—co-hosted by renowned Argentinian polo player and face of Ralph Lauren‘s Polo fragrances Nacho Figueras, alongside designer/stylist Rachel Zoe and president of Veuve Clicquot U.S., Vanessa Kay—drew a crowd including celebrities and polo enthusiasts from around the world. The event was inspired by the famous 1922 match in Delhi, India where Patiala faced Jodhpur. Guests were welcomed to the match with coupes of vintage rosé, which continued to flow throughout the day. Later that afternoon, actress Ali Larter kicked the match off by throwing out the first toss. It ended with Nacho Figuera’s team Black Watch defeating team Nespresso with a score of 10 to 9.

Fall’s go-to topper, The Jacket, has covered the runways this month. For Spring, designers are delivering moto, baseball and bomber jackets in traditional leather cuts, and also sporty and grungy variations. The rugged styles balance out the season’s floaty sheer fabrics and in many cases are used as a component of the season’s completely leather looks.

Inspired: Skaist Taylor’s Spring Playlist
Entering Skaist Taylor’s Spring 2013 presentation, atop The McKittrick Hotel in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, felt like stepping into an early 1970′s musical jam session (the kind you read about in Patti Smith’s book, Just Kids.) The loft-like industrial elevator opened and James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” vibrated the dark hallway, while the scent of incense led the way into an intimate outdoor space. Celebrities, editors and buyers were nestled around rustic tables and benches, models emerged from a variety of vantage points with teased tresses, cotton crochet dresses and tea-stained eyelet skirts. Like the souls that found themselves at The Troubadour in its early ’70s heyday, co-founders Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor riff off the vibes of friends, icons and each other to create an eclectic, autobiographical mix. Bold bursts of poppy and lemon dance through the collection in a dip-dyed silk motif, while laser-cut metallic leather pieces are grounded by lightweight knits. The Skaist Taylor train is movin’ and groovin’ this Spring. Here’s the soundtrack…
Skaist-Levy and Nash Taylor share the songs that inspired their Spring 2013 Collection.
Music by John Taylor, featuring:
1. The Way I Feel by Gordon Lightfoot
2. You’re No Good by Linda Ronstadt
3. Get On Top by Tim Buckley
4. Witchy Woman by The Eagles
5. Fire And Rain by James Taylor featuring Allison Iraheta
6. Suite Judy Blue Eyes by Steven Stills
7. Love Me Like A Man by Bonnie Raitt
8. So You Want To Be Be A Rock And Roll Star by Patti Smith
9. You’ve Got A Friend by James Taylor featuring Allison Iraheta
