A shadowy stage in the Grand Palais. Smoke spills from under a planked boardwalk lined with black rocks and black sand. A pair of drawbridges drop, releasing models from the shadows of Karl Lagerfeld’s dark and mysterious collection for Chanel.
Pants were the message on many of the models—tuxedo pants cropped above the ankle, worn with kitten heel pumps, or a slouchy pant rumpled at the ankle, or a skinny pant tucked into combat boots.
A very dark, nuanced and beautiful collection.
