Women's
Dior, Fall 2011

Dior showed without John Galliano at the Musée Rodin. A speech from CEO Sydney Toledano, about the values of the house of Dior, was appropriate and set the tone for the show.
Karlie Kloss opened the show in a maxi cape with velvet britches and a floppy hat, all with an eclectic English, Carnaby Street vibe with a Seventies attitude. Colors of loden, olive, cranberry and teal came in luxe fabric mixes of silk, leather, velvet and fur. This has been the biggest fur season ever. Fur chubbies, fur sleeves, fur vests, fur gloves.

Flirty, girly silk dresses were paired with masculine wool jackets and coats. Tweed jackets thrown over lingerie-inspired dresses. Vintage-like bed jackets were interpreted as evening cover ups over pale chiffons gowns with lace and bead trims.

Shoes were either suede platforms with a strappy ankle wrap, or laced up booties, and there were many, many handbags on the catwalk.
In a poignant and appropriate finale, the atelier was brought out and received a standing ovation.
