Christopher Kane, the up-and-coming star of London Fashion Week and the designer at Versus, showed his eponymous fall collection to much acclaim.
“Everyone associates crochet with grannies, I like turning that on its head,” said Kane, who embossed leather into crochet squares, then dyed them inky blues, purples, and lodens to resemble knit.
Ladylike dresses with colored liquid-filled, clear vinyl embellishments were inspired by Kane’s fascination with lava lamps in his youth.
Diaphanous dresses took on ethereal modernity for evening with Kane’s creative use of sequins and vinyl panelling.
