Erdem Up Close, F/W 2012

Nothing from Erdem is what it seems. What looks like a tweed is actually a photo print of a tweed. What looks like a print is three layers of lace and embroidery. What looks like separates is a dress, and vice versa. Designer Erdem Moralioglu is conducting brilliant experiments with fabric, print and embellishment. His ladylike silhouettes appeared lovely enough on the runway. But in the Paris showroom, the closer we viewed the garments, the more we discovered to love.
