Kareen’s New York Fashion Week Diary – Tuesday
Kareen Mallet, senior ready-to-wear director of Neiman Marcus, shares her perspective on each day of New York Fashion Week.

6:20 am: Good morning and Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone. What I’m wearing today: black-white chiffon Theory dress, RED Valentino trench coat and Prada shoes.
7:25-8:40 am: Stop at the office to work on the trend report, view and edit the shows I didn’t see yesterday, and one quick 8 am appointment to check out a new collection. (So many collections, not enough time in a day!)
9:25 am: At Tory Burch, Valentine’s Day intrigue. The program says that for Fall she was inspired “by the idea of a prim girl who’s under the spell of the wrong kind of guy. She is innocent, unaware of her own sex appeal. The setting? The hotel where they meet.” Oh la la!
9:50 am: The Tory Burch collection was very polished, with fitted silhouettes.
10:20 am: Red carpet action, where else but Badgley Mischka‘s front row? Kelly Osbourne is sitting in our NM section, and when everyone is seated and waiting for the show to come on, Joan Rivers appears and walks down the runway to cheers from the crowd. Our own Mitch Johnson is seated next to sportscaster Erin Andrews.

11:20 am: Vera Wang show – the second Renee Zellweger sighting of the week, and Viola Davis is seated next to Anna Wintour (maybe looking for a dress for the Oscars?). Lots of flou chiffon back to structured double faced. Nude, grey and a pop of bright orange.
12:50 pm: Quick Valentine’s Day lunch wih my friend Carmen Marc Valvo at the showroom.

2:30 pm: At Sachi + Babi‘s first runway show. The husband and wife duo showed plenty of leather dressing for the hip contemporary girl.

4:10 pm: Marc by Marc Jacobs show. Like in his main collection, Marc plays with billowy silhouettes.

Marc takes his bow.
7:48 pm: Oscar de la Renta always take you to a magical place. The clothes are happy, beautiful and speak to the femme in all of us. Full skirted dresses adorned with jewels, ladylike suits and fairy-like ballgowns. The models walked to a remix of “Maniac” and all have a happy smirk on. What a wonderful way to end this Valentine’s Day. I am in love! Bisous and have a fun evening, everyone!
