Today I’m wearing a cotton lace navy dress from Carven (one of my personal favorite collections), a black fur vest, fur-lined booties from Elizabeth and James. I have a pair of Uggs for tonight’s Moncler Grenoble show at Wolman Rink (in the middle of Central Park) stuffed in my YSL bag.

5:15 am: Happy Sunday! There is no sleeping in during fashion week. I’m getting my daughter ready for a 6 am departure for a week of skiing in Quebec with her school. (I’m a bit nervous).

6-8:30 am: Great productive morning. Read the show reviews. Edited all the shows from yesterday for the NM trend presentation. Listed a draft of trends for Linda at BG. Now all dressed up to face the freezing cold, and off to the first show of the day – Victoria Beckham.

My cab driver is playing some Whitney Houston, so sad. Lately it feels like every fashion week, we loose an icon (Steve Jobs, Alexander McQueen).

9:45 am: In the cab going to the show, I’m taking my turn in Words With Friends with Matthew Singer, our new men’s fashion director, and Scott Kerr, senior geek/guru at Time Inc., who keeps me au courant on the cool new apps and gadgets. I’m beating both of them ;)

10:35 am: Sitting at Victoria Beckham, the sound of a helicopter sets the tone. Military has infuenced her. Epaulets are on jackets, coats and dresses. Military greens, blue and red are her colors. Her signature sexy dresses have exposed back zippers and some harness detailing. A strong and powerful collection. It was great seeing David Beckham supporting his wife.

11-11:45 am: Market appointment at the CD Network showroom. Reviewing different collections (Josef, RDM, Brochu Walker) and Carven. I’m so excited that the collection will be available at NM in the Fall.

Catching up with showroom owner Christophe Demaison, whose children attend the same school as mine in NY. Jean Paul Gaultier is being honored the school gala next month. Madonna and Linda Evangelista (whose kids also attend) will be presenting them with the award. It will be a fashion scene.

1:40 pm: The DKNY program says “Poetic rebellion” is the inspiration.

Sexy flirty skirt, often in leather, back to a jacket, knits or great outerwear piece. Pretty and tough at the same time.

2:20 pm: Back at Lincoln Center, the back wall at Tracy Reese represents a big trend inspiration board full of colors and fun prints like her collection – colorful and playful.

3:30 pm:  Skaist-Taylor, the new collection designed by Juicy Couture founders (Pamela and Gela), is inside a parking lot under Lincoln Center with wall projections resembling the redwood forest.

The clothes are California eccentric which means lots of fur, high-low dresses, and glamour party dresses. Rachel Zoe is here supporting her friends. And Theodora Richards is having fun modeling some of the looks.

4:20 pm: At Diane von Furstenberg. The entire Neiman Marcus team has arrived. It’ s like NM #occupyfashionweek. This show is always good for celebrity spotting: Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Fran Leibowitz, Rachel Zoe, Molly Sims, Oscar de la Renta, and Anderson Cooper.

In the program, Diane von Furstenberg and Yvan Mispelaere announce: ”A rendez vous is a meeting with suspense and expectations.” The collection is colorful and full of sexy and feminine silhouttes.

5-6 pm: It’s impossible to get a cab, so I hop on the subway to the office to start editing more shows and reacharge my electronics.

6:20 pm: Carmen Marc Valvo is showing at the Nasdaq in Times Square. Karen Katz is here attending the show with a couple of her friends.

Carmen showed a modern and sophisticated collection.

7 pm: Quick change of shoes at the office, and off to Central Park with coat buyer Jan Berkowitz to see Moncler.

8:12 pm: The Moncler presentation was fantastic. Held at the Wolmen Rink in Central Park. On a freezing night, it’s as if the Moncler team had ordered this weather to have everyone lust over their jacket. A choir opens the show singing New York, New York, and at least a 100 skaters, all clad in Moncler, performed a 15 minute show. What a way to end the day! A demain!
