Marco Bicego: Veneto Meets Jaipur
Marco Bicego hails from a long line of goldsmiths. The days of his childhood in the Veneto region of Italy were spent at his father’s 50-year-old atelier meddling, molding and manipulating metal. As time went on the congenitally creative Bicego began to experiment with design by blending the influences of modern architecture with tribal culture, and merging the untouched beauty of nature with the diversity of art.

In 2000 Bicego took his hand at the business and launched his eponymous brand synonymous with everyday elegance.
“Hand-made, artisanal, perfectly imperfect,” says Bicego of the aesthetic behind his cultivated craftsmanship. “Those are the tenets at the heart of the Marco Bicego brand and they are reflected in each piece of jewelry I design.”

Neiman Marcus first unearthed Bicego’s work in 2007, and our latest exclusive collaboration with the brand is the Diamond Jaipur Link Collection. The inspiration behind the collection centers around one of Bicego’s favorite travel destinations, the Indian city of Jaipur. The desert-like land was originally created as a capital for royalty, but today draws jewelry makers from afar because of the gem industry and the centuries-old art of stone cutting, a modus operandi that is still practiced manually by the city’s artisans.

Each piece in the Diamond Jaipur Link Collection is made of 18kt yellow gold sourced from Vicenza, Italy that is finished with Bicego’s signature hand-etched technique. The name link, in the collection’s title, references the delicate chain that enraptures the interweaving rings surfaced with diamond pave.
“It blends old world Italian hand craftsmanship with tradition, passion and imagination,” says Bicego of his timeless designs that are intended to be worn on any occasion throughout the day. “When I am designing I have in mind a Neiman Marcus customer—a dynamic, interesting and playful woman.”
