Modern millinery master Philip Treacy brought stacks upon stacks of hat boxes from his London studio to NM Beverly Hills for an afternoon try-on session. Treacy spent time studying each design on customers and adding finishing touches here and there – even taking a trip to the alterations department at one point to perfect the steaming on a hat. Since his designs paraded atop 36 royal wedding guests, including the buzzed-about bow headpiece worn by Princess Beatrice of York, the fascination with fascinators and toppers has been growing stateside. The milliner made many of the hats seen at the recent Kentucky Derby and is currently prepping for the UK’s prestigious 300 year old horse race, the Royal Ascot, which will be held at the end of June.
