Roopal’s New York Fashion Week Journal – Day 7

Wearing a Thakoon dress, Celine tote, YSL shoes, Verdura bracelet, and Temple St. Clair necklace.

6:30 am: Wake up – it’s the final stretch today. Last day of NYFW. Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Naeem Khan and Marc Jacobs. Still excited by last night’s Proenza Schouler show! Tribal is in the air.

8:51 am: Hop onto the subway to go midtown to meet Kel at Michael Kors handbags. The tribal vibe translates beautifully from Michael’s runway collection to the handbags. Pops of orange. Chic mixed-media combinations. I am obsessing over Michael’s python and animal print clutches. Super luxe striped python totes in deep orange, yellow, and brown.

10:30 am: Head downtown to Ralph Lauren show.

12:10 pm: Quick lunch with Neiman Marcus SVP Jonathan Joselove.

12:50 pm: Head to Alexander Wang.

1:25 pm: The Alexander Wang showroom is always crazy during collections. We all just cannot get enough.

Alexander Wang's showroom is always buzzing with activity.

I feel like a kid in a candy store. Where to begin…His handbags are always seen on the coolest girls in town. Rocco, Emile, Diego and Marion are just a few of the styles that we can’t get enough of – start with one and you will just keep adding on every season. I may need to add the Emile tote and Marion convertible cross body to clutch shapes into my wardrobe.

Naeem Kahn, Spring 2012

His gorgeous wife, jewelry designer Ranjana Khan, must be the muse for this collection. Luscious shades of yellow and orange. Yellow gown with swirled bugle beads. Orange sarong gown with leaf beaded bodice.

Lots of gorgeous glamour here.

5:10 pm: Home sweet home for a rest and change before Marc Jacobs. Its the first time that Marc closes NYFW. He normally shows on Monday night. Change is good! I am excited for the evening—Marc Jacobs at 8:30 and then the Calvin Klein dinner at 9:00 pm.

7:45 pm: Leave home to get to MJ on time. He starts his show at 8:30 pm sharp…no exceptions.

8:29 pm: Marc Jacobs. The set features a big gilded curtain with polished wood dance floors and dance inspired light fixtures on wooden beams. Marc himself is hidden amongst the seated models counting along to the music… 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

8:45 pm: Catch a lift with Vogue‘s Meredith Melling Burke to the Calvin Klein dinner at ABC Kitchen. Always a favorite for me. Everyone gets together and celebrates the end of the fashion week. That’s it for now – more to come in the next few weeks. Come join me on my European adventure. First stop: London for our Tom Ford  appointment on September 28.
