Seeing Things: Window Dressing by Sea of Shoes’ Jane Aldridge
- Jane Aldridge
Sea of Shoes’ Jane Aldridge and, her mother, Judy Aldridge of Atlantis Home unveiled a window into their world last week at the Downtown Dallas store. The art installation referenced none other than a sea of Spring shoes and artistic sketches by Jane herself. Jane expressed witty humor with her choice of evening footwear – the Prada smoking sandal in silver. “I have a flair for the dramatic and anything exaggerated,” says Jane.
Her artistic wit was evident in the Main Street windows through the backdrop of sketches and the minimalistic installation of white boxes and Spring shoes mimicking the sea. She worked with the NM visual team for weeks curating the shoe selection and sketching out concepts. Her favorite pair of shoes in the window is by shoe designer, Roger Vivier. “I’m probably butchering his name, but they are my absolute favorite,” says Jane.
“I can remember going to the Neiman Marcus at NorthPark with my mom, as a kid. I was in complete awe of the shoe department, of course. This was the ’90s when all of the Prada shoes were pointy toe sling backs.” Although Prada continues to be at the top of her list each season, she is currently coveting Oscar de la Renta’s PVC clear Oxford pump. ”I love that you can wear colored socks with them, and socks are always a good idea.”
