Stylish Space: Cut 25 in the Garment District
Designer Yigal Azrouel’s rustic full-service atelier and showroom in the Garment District is bustling with buyers after his Spring show in New York. Azrouel moved into this space twelve years ago, bringing together a mix of local flea market finds and smaller objects from around the world (Israel, Paris and Asia.) “I’m all about mixing different genres of furniture to create my own story,” says Azrouel.
Azrouel launched Cut25, a contemporary collection, in Fall 2010. Naturally, with the brand expansion came an expansion of studio and showroom space. Azrouel now occupies two floors in the Garment District building. Rustic wooden tables, metal baskets and memorabilia from the Brooklyn Flea Market fill the Cut25 showroom. “It has an old vintage look but really takes on a modern feel when combined with all the other furniture,” says Azrouel. Over the past few years they’ve experimented with paint colors in the showroom. Right now, the space is painted grey but Azrouel attributes the energy of the space to the changes with each collection. Spring felt vibrant, bold and relaxed.
