Summer Essential: Waterproof Eyes
Summer is weeks away, calling for a great waterproof mascara and eyeliner. According to YSL makeup artist Martine Campbell, a great trick for subtly accenting eye color without committing to a colored mascara is to apply a layer of black starting from the base of the lashes to give the appearance of a thicker lash line, then use a colored mascara just on the tips of the lashes, or on the bottom lashes only.
Finish off the look with the YSL’s Dessin du Regard Waterproof Eye Pencil in Black Ink, Patent Leather, Ultramarine, Simmering Burgundy, Amazon Green, or the limited-edition Absinthe Green. The waterproof eye pencil uses jojoba oil for a soft liquid-like texture that glides on the skin and lasts 16 hours without any mineral oil, paraffin, or parabens added.
Campbell suggests using the darker YSL pencils to line the inside upper rim of the eye along the lash line to define the eyes and make lashes look thicker. Or use the limited-edition Absinthe Green, a pale turquoise, on the bottom inside rim of the eye to tone down the red, giving you a more natural fresh-eyed look than you would get from the standard white pencil.
