I'm Jenny Smith, National Makeup Stylist for Nars Cosmetics, and these are the NARS artistry sessions. I'm going to show you an eye-focus look featuring some of our key shades. Spring 2012 Color Collection Fran?ois Nars The first product we're going to use is Dark Rite Soft Touch Shadow Pencil. I'm using the soft touch pencil on Michelle's lash line and just blending as I go. A quick tip and easy way to apply is to start applying on the outer corner of your eye and work your way in. This allows your eye to relax easily. The reason that I'm using this shade is that it creates depth as you can see. I'm going to smudge this shimmering navy color and just join together, right where her eye has its natural round shape, so I'm going to blend the pencil to create instant definition. The great thing about using a soft touch shadow pencil before a powder is that this actually creates a base for the powder to stick to. Michelle's eye is instantly defined. This doesn't have to be perfect because what we are doing is creating a base shadow. The shadow that I'm using is Lhasa, which is a lavender grey color. What you'll notice is I'm actually applying it in a pressing motion with this angled shadow brush. The number 16 brush applies a very smooth and even look over the eyes and the pressing motion prevents the shadow from falling down. Let's do the other eye, remember use the pencil as close to your lash line so you don't have any open space. Blink once or twice, this creates a natural shape on your eye so that you know where to fill in and blend with the pencil. One of the most amazing things about this is it actually has a built in sharpener so that you never have to take a sharpener with you. Blending right into your lash creates a thicker lash look, while it wont tug on your eye at all. What I like to do to soften the edges of the liner is to use the shadow over the edges of the eyeliner, this cleans and perfects the look but it also creates a soft hazy look of color. And the blue gray melds together as you blend. Next out on a few layers of Nars Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara, which is enriched with vitamin E and macadamian oil, no clumping or flaking. I love this mascara because it gives the beautiful lush finish to the lashes. What i like to do is tilt my head back in the mirror so I can get right to the base of the lashes so I get a lot of volume at the base of the lashes and work it out to he ends. What this does I instantly defines the most important area of the lashes, the base?almost the same way eyeliner would. We are going to use one of The Multiple sticks, which is for eyes, cheeks and lips, which is a true pink. What I use as a guiding point is two fingers from your nose. Because we have natural redness in this area, if you go higher it actually looks healthier. We are using Tonga lipliner; this is great because you can use it over your entire lip. It feels like a natural color and it gives longer wear to lipstick, gloss and it also creates a brightening effect. The gloss I'm using is a new Larger than Life Lip Gloss which has a hydrating effect. This is Pir?e, a rosy pink, the color by itself looks amazing, but we are going to have a little bit of fun and layer another color over it. The fine-tip brush makes it easy to apply without over doing it. We are using the new lipstick Bilbao, which is a shimmering lipstick, i love this cool for its versatility. I'm actually using it as a finishing touch, which is different than you might do at home, but its so the pink from the gloss still shows through Dark Rite Soft Touch Shadow Pencil Lhasa Eyeshadow Via Veneto Larger than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara The Multiple Riviera Tonga Lipliner Pir?e Larger than Life Lip Gloss Bilbao Lipstick
