KEN: I’m Ken Downing, Fashion Director for Neiman Marcus. And I’m here with one of my very good friends, Aerin Lauder. It’s so exciting, I mean you being the granddaughter as we all know of one of the most infamous women in beauty, Estee Lauder. You are actually taking on the beauty world yourself. AERIN: People for years were asking me 'what’s in your makeup bag?'. They were always saying you’ve been in beauty forever and you have the most amazing role model to teach you all your beauty tips and secrets. So the first collection that’s coming out in August are really the items I can’t live without. The sec whole idea is a very edited collection for the launch and then four times a year we’re going to do color collections, based on trend and what I’m seeing as an influence. It’s all about effortless and style made a bit more simple. KEN: Aerin, the colors and the palettes are just, they're mesmerizing. AERIN: Well, when we were developing the palettes I really thought about how I lived and what I would want in a color palette and it was really all about to me weekend and weekday. During the weekday I wear more dramatic color, I’m going back and forth to the office picking the children up from school and on the weekend you want to be a big more subtle but you still want to look beautiful. And this is the weekday palette so it’s a bit more dramatic. It’s a cheek color, a highlighter and an eye shadow duo as well as a lipstick and a lip gloss. And on the Weekend it goes a bit more subtle but still really beautiful... KEN: A little bit of a natural beauty. AERIN: A bit of natural, and you can really especially see that in the cheek color. For the Weekday it’s more dramatic, and on the Weekend it’s a bit more subtle and I think it’s very much about how the modern woman lives. It comes in a beautiful pouch, so it has that whole experience even on the Weekend it feels very luxurious and very special. KEN: I can’t imagine any women that won’t happily reach into her handbag and be able to pull out something so gorgeous and so glamorous and at a luncheon table, at a dinner table. AERIN: I know and even the fragrance, we put this wonderful flower infusion fragrance into all the products--do you want to put it on? KEN: I don’t mind a little something that smells pretty, you know me, I’m a boy from the very beginning. AERIN: The whole experience about Aerin Beauty is really about pretty, feminine and an element of surprise. I’m putting on my bronzer and having my coffee and 2:01 everyone’s packing their backpacks and it’s totally frantic in the house and I put the bronzer on it just like makes you feel good. KEN: I mean, it’s truly an extension of you and your life. And even someone who doesn’t know you, when they come into the stores and see this beautiful collection and they start to experience it, you’re going to experience the real Aerin Lauder which I think is fantastic. AERIN: It really is very much what I believe in and I think it’s so important is the idea that a woman knows what a woman wants.
