Elysee Dinnerware
Add a stunning gleam to your next gathering.
White porcelain with light blue and 18-karat yellow gold palm frond border. Dinner plate, 10 1/2" diameter. Salad plate, 8 1/2" diameter. Bread and butter plate, 6 1/2" diameter. Tea cup, holds 5 ounces. Tea saucer, 6 3/4" diameter. Made in France.
About Elysee: The dinnerware service was created by the Manufacture de Sevres in 1832 for Louis-Philippe for use in the Tuileries Palace. This pattern was created using an Empire shape in order to replicate this historical period. Certain pieces follow the purist, most classical forms: the gravy boat evokes an antique oil lamp, and the creamer is inspired by a French ceramic pot from the 18th Century. Elysee shows a frieze of palm leaves in a burnished gold, on an agate blue background. Its outspread leaves give off a ray-like solar effect, typical of spectacular motifs. It was this sign of modernity that inspired Chateaubriand to write towards the end of his career: "One could say that the old world is ending and that the new one begins. I see the reflection of an aurora, yet I will never see the sun." A new edition of the original service by the Ancienne Manufacture Royale is found at the National Museum of Ceramics in Sevres.
About Bernardaud:
An icon of the grand tradition of excellence based in Limoges, France, Bernardaud embodies one of the most innovative spirits among French luxury houses today. A trendsetter in design, its porcelain collections are characterized by delicate colors and original forms, capturing the essence of their time. Traditional or contemporary, the Bernardaud collections elegantly modernize the art of entertaining.
"The art of fire is subtle and presents us with constant challenges. It excites us to always go further. I accept the challenge. It is a challenge that demands time before all else. It is the path of perfection." Michel Bernardaud

Michael Wainwright
"Gold Coil" Dinnerware
A feast for the eyes, this handmade white porcelain dinnerware is embellished by hand with 22-kt. gold. Designed by Michael Wainwright. Dishwasher safe. Made in the USA. Each piece is sold individually except the mug and saucer, which are sold as a set of two.
About this dinnerware: First, the rims are cut by hand, so that no two pieces are exactly alike. Second, each piece is glazed by hand and fired to nearly 2200 degrees F. Finally, 22-kt. gold is hand painted on each piece, which is then fired one more time, resulting in a finish that is dishwasher safe.
About Michael Wainwright From the cathedrals of Italy to the windswept dunes of Cape Cod, Michael Wainwright's journeys combine with his mastery of sculpture and experience as a jeweler to inspire timeless, functional works of art. He established his design firm in 1991 and works out of a studio in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. His distinctive tabletop and decorative items have been featured in Bon Appetit, Gourmet, and House & Garden magazines; all are handcrafted of porcelain with platinum or 24-kt gold and are made in the United States.
