Swarovski, now a fifth-generation family-run business, was founded in 1895 by visionary inventor Daniel Swarovski. After completing a two-year apprenticeship at his father's glass-cutting factory in northern Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic), Daniel Swarovski I patented his design for a machine to aid in cutting of crystal in 1892.
